I'm trying to install Norton System Works 2004 on my computer. I had 2002, but uninstalled it in order to install 2004. The computer keeps hanging up when I try to install it. I was getting part way through the process but then was getting an error message (#1335) that said something about cabs.m18. I'm not even getting that far any more. Anybody have any ideas on it? Thanks!

From all the posts here on 2004 it appears to have some major problems.

Norton seems to have some major problems. I see 10 times as many Norton problems as any other software provider.

You need to go to Symantec's support website and get their removal tools for Systemworks and NAV. They are "symclean" and "rnav.2003"(yes, it is also for 2002) to remove all the deep running regisitry entries. Then you can install the new Norton. I would highly recommend that you get the 2003 version, much cheaper and smaller package without the problems of 2004. There is no removal tool out yet for 2004, and many people have had problems with the trial version of 2004. You can check this fact out at this forum by doing a search.

Did this work? I am getting the same error message, I tried the removal tools - I had Norton 2000 and it still is not working. Suggestions? Return it for 2003?

Hey,
yeah it worked, I'm not sure exactly the steps she tried (this info was for a friend) but she said it did work. She thinks the navclean is what finally did it. Thanks for all your help guys!
