Here is a suggestion, go to a store and buy a copy of Norton Utilities 2001.

I used to use norton disk doctor. I found it troublesome on some things. Luckily it was only a trial that I downloaded. I think scandisk work as good myself.

Just some info. Microslop Scandisk is written by Symantec (Norton), as is Defreg.
