I now keep getting this message EVERY time I try to update my Norton Antivirus:
Your computer has lost it’s internet connection. This probably happened because your internet service provider is down or the network you are using for the internet is down. Click “Retry” to try again or click “Cancel” to exit Liveupdate. My internet connection is ok so what is happening?

PaulPaul,

I used to work with a woman and her first name was Palmer. She married a man with a last name of Palmer so now her married name is Palmer Palmer.

"I now keep getting this message..."
When you say "now" do you mean that this is something new to your machine? Did it work properly prior to this new problem?
Have you configured it's account settings?
Are you allowing access to the internet via your firewall software?
Some ideas.

HTH
Bryan

If you have more than one Dial-Up Networking connection in your Computer and you are NOT using AOL as your ISP, try the following.

1.Click Start > Settings,>Control Panel.
2.Double-click Symantec LiveUpdate. to open LiveUpdate Configuration dialog box.
3.Click the ISP tab and then click () "Customized settings for LiveUpdate."
4.Expand the drop-down list under "Use this Dial-Up Networking connection," and selectthe connection for your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
5.Enter your login name for your dial-up accountt with that ISP in the User name: box.
6.Enter your passwordfor your dial-up account with that ISP in the Password box.

7.Click Apply > OK.

Anyway, try the previously posted steps with Symantec LiveUpdate in Control Panel, it might still work; certainly won't hurt:-)

I had the same problem. Apparently Symantec has done away with support for the website that my live update was using. By doing away with it, the web page/site is no longer availavle. I was using an old version of Norton Anti-virus. If you look hard enough you can find the web page url and use your browser to try to bring the site/page up. It no longer exists! Several e-mails with Symantec ssupport confirmed that support for the old version has been killed.
I don't remember the version I was using nor the web page since I've upgraded to a newer version of their anti-virus.

I have the same problem.
I wouldnt be suprised if norton has withdrawn support for my version, (V4) I got it in 1997. One thing I can say is that the URL ehere my Live Update connects to is still up its ftp://update.symantec.com
I wonder if the files are there in a form that can be manualy downloaded? If they are I can't find them.
