Comment:

When I try to install Norton it says that I have a memory resident virus and to reboot using a clean boot disk. How do I clean the virus when it only boots to a:\? This is the first virus I have had to clean so it's all new to me.

Thanks,

Keith

A virus can infect a disk that is read in an infected machine if the write protect is off. To keep a disk clean keep the write protect on. To clean a virus from the MBR of the hard disk you must use a clean disk to load command.com into memory or the virus will be loaded also.

If you have the floppy that comes with NAV 5.0 you can use it to boot and clean virus. Try that, if you don't have I can send it to you.
