Comment:

I have win98 with 64meg. For some reason my sound has dissapeared. Is it my sound card or now lack of one?
I device manager I have
-ES1879 Plug and play audio Drive(WDM), and
-ES1879 Controll Interface(WDM)
both of them have a yellow exclamation mark on them.
How do I get my sound back or what driver can I download from the internet?
Please keep it simple as my computer skills are very limited.
Thanks in advance
P>S>Bryan thanks for earlier

In the Windows Device Manager, click one of the icons that represent your sound card with yellow exclamation mark icon to select it, and then click on the 'Remove' button. Do this for each icon for the sound card, close the Device Manager window and reboot. When windows restarts the sound card will be detected, the drivers should be loaded (or prompt you for a driver) and configure the sound card.

It looks like it's trying to load the drivers from a folder that no longer exists on your computer. Go here to download what you need:

http://www.esstech.com/techsupp/drivers.shtm

The file will need to be exracted. Remember what folder you extract it to.

Delete all the stuff in 'sound, video and game controllers' with a yellow ? or !. Then click refresh. When it asks where to load the drivers from, browse to the folder with the extracted files.
