I installed windows 98 today and everything works but my sound card. My sound card is Aztech Sound Galaxy Nova 16. I went into "help" and followed the directions, but it still doesn't work. I think it may have something to do with the driver and I'm not sure if the sound card I have will work with windows 98? Can someone help me?

Thanks

Hello,

Double click on the speaker icon on your taskbar. Make sure that mute is not selected. Also, make sure the volume controls are set the way you want them. When you upgrade to WIN98, it sometimes intentionally mutes the sound for some reason.

Hope this helps....

I was having a problem like this where as I could only hear a few seconds of the selected sound. I went into the Bios setup and changed the OS to PNP OS disabled instead of enabled. This cleared my problem up and I have had no more since.

I got a new hard drive a few days ago, and I had sound the first night. The next morning I had no sound coming out of the speakers. I checked the volume icon, it is fine, the speakers are fine, and the plug is plugged into the correct spot on the hard drive. What else could be the problem?

The same problam exists in win98 SE, and I found that reinstalling a newer version of mmdevldr.vxd (released 4 days after Win98 SE)worked for the first reboot, but then after another reboot it didn't work... and it's a lot of messing around to get it to work. I'm gonna try messing about with the bios as mentioned above.

I have just installed a new mainboard PIII 566 MHz. After a few switches on, the sound on my PC disappeared - the soundcard driver cannot be loaded by means of ntkern.vxd, and mmdevldr.vxd. I am not quite sure I can change the BIOS. The current settings are PNP OS at value NO. Anyone can give me a hint? I just suppose any new soundcard will face the same problems. Waiting for any (useful!} advice ASAP!!!.
