I'm having difficulty playing CDs through my cd-rom drive.

The problem is when i try to listen to my Cds, there is no sound.

The only way i can listen to them is through the Windows Media Player.

It seems to play when i try to use the CD player listed under "entertainment" in the start menu, but i still dont hear anything.

So can someone give me some advice on what i'd be able to do to get it working again!

Thank You!!!!

did you connect the audio cable from the CD deck to the auxiliary input on the motherboard or sound card?

It sure sounds like the cable but ...Have you checked the volume controls. Double click the yellow speaker in the systray.

I've checked for device conflicts..but there is none..so..the media device controllers are there too and they report nothing wrong.

Try this go to control panel then multimedia, and under the cd rom tab see if there is a check mark in the enable digital audio for this device if so uncheck it , maybe that will help
