I am not getting any sound through my speakers. I have tried re-installing my sound card. I have tried going through the multimedia in control panel and going to the audio tab but everything is grey out. I have tried everything I could think of outside of reformatting my harddrives and starting over, really don't want to do that, so one out there please give some advice...... Thanks in advance.... last program I installed before this happened was netsonic. Oh yeah no volume control in system tray and I tried some of the stuff also.

Just to rule out the volume control, if it's not in the systray, go to start/accessories/entertainment/volume control. I know at one time mine decided to mute itself everytime I booted up. Also make sure you speakers are plugged into the correct jack on the soundcard. Sounds silly but I have also had a tizzy fit before after moving my pc only to find I had it plugged into the wrong jack. At least checking those two things will rule out the obvious and you can go from there.
