Everyone please help me here!

I recently purchased the Asus A7N266-VM motherboard which has a built in sound card. I set everything up and the sound will not work??

* I've tryed un-installing/re-installing the drivers.
* I've tryed d/l other driver software
* I've tryed the software on the disk and on asus's website

I've done everything I can think of to get my audio to work, and still nothing??

Does anyone know what is wrong?
This is what I get.

When I click on the audio menu, in one section I always get "error opening mixer"

Also when I goto the specs in the menu it says my audio driver/time stamp is not set.

As well, when I click winamp to play a file I get Error code (4) windows error message saysing
"MMSYSTEM004 The specified device is already in use. Wait untill it is free and try again."

If anyone has any idea of what is going on PLEASE! let me know Thanks soo much!

It sounds as if you have resources for your soundcard conflciting with some other device in your system. Open the Control Panel and then the System applet and then the Device Manager. Check for exclamation marks next to the soundcard. If you find them, open the properties for that device and it should tell you what it is conflicting with. You will probably have to reassign the resources for the soundcard.

I checked for that as well. Nothing is conflicting. There are no exclimations on anything. I even tryed changing the original settings on the sound card to see if that would work but it didnt. I'm at a loss!

Anyone???? :(((

i HAD the same problem with my A7N266-VM it is a problem with irq stuff. try this install all the drivers than in the device manager clack properties for pci ethernet controler and check "disable in this hardware profile" and do the same for "NVIDIA (r) nForce(TM) MCP Audio proc..." and see if it works.
