NO SOUND from windows 98se

No sound from windows 98se. Can play cd through sound card and control volume on speakers only, NOT using windows HELP PLEASE

is the speaker icon in your system tray? Check your device manager for sound ?! marks

Check the volume controls. Double click the yellow speaker in the systray (if you have it)

Did this happen after a drive format and reinstall of Windows? If so, then you need to reload the sound drivers. The music CDs will play without them.

This is a new build and I get NO sound even when I switch on No volum control on panel. Speaker are plugged into sound card and work.

Same story for new build. Windows will not run the sound card. You need the drivers loaded.
