Try looking in your control panal under the system device section to see if you sound card is working properly. If it has a yellow exclamation or red x then u need to install the drivers for it.

Also if u have one of those many speaker sets check to see if you have all the plugs in the right place.

Replying back Bobeep, i checked my control panel under the system device section and i still have found no errors on it.. plus i also checked my speaker system and its working alright there also, but still when i run winamp it still plays the song with no sound and it stops after 4-5 seconds.. im kinda confused on that.. but do you have any ideas?

Check your settings for your sound and make sure that you do not have any muted...check all of them......

Check the SPEAKER properties and also the sound card drivers and its PROPERTIES.
DOUBLE CHECK the connections, as I have seen them wrong when they said they were right.
Can you hear CD sound?
Have you been inside the box to see the actual sound card fitting?
Also, try the speakers on a walkman or headphone set or another PC. They may be defective.
And check the many, many VOLUME and SOUND edits all over Windows and the sound card.

I know this will sound far fetched butit worked for me, Look at your Real player, if the sound on that is turned down you wont be able to hear anything. and no way to correct it but open real player and turning the volume up. Try it might work for you

Replying Back Ec, I tested my microphone with it and the sound of my voice came from the speakers, but i didnt record anything so its not the speakers, i checked my volume properties and no luck, they werent muted, and i checked out winamp again playing a mp3 and it stops after a second of playing nothing but the mp3 but no sound with it.
