Hi Maybe you could try re-installing the drivers for your sound card as thats usually the problem or maybe update them. Or maybe if you have taken your computer apart in the last month then you could of knocked it so its not in properly. Hope my advice can come in useful.

deattache the card from ur computer and start it if there any driver related with sound then rimove it after that shutdown the computer. then again attach the card in another slot properly and start the computer it will detect automatically then install proper driver.
