Ok, I have just lost all sound on my computer. Just all of a sudden. I have checked all volume settings, so I can rule that out. I tried plugging headphones in the back where the speakers plug into. Nothing. I tried playing a CD in my CD-rom, and with headphones plugged into the CD-rom. Nothing. Is my computer dying or is it possible that the sound card is messed up? Please advise!!!!

Your C.D. is bagged if you hear nothing through the front earphone jack. Do your head
phones work ?

C.D. bagged? I hear nothing through my windows media player either. Also, no sound through my CD writer. Headphones and speakers work, but not through the computer. I was thinking it was the sound card. Maybe the motherboard?

Can anyone confirm that it's the sound card?

Hi walter,

There are many causes for poor sound output, including improper connections, IRQ conflicts, and out of date drivers. The only way of confirming if it is or is not the sound card is to replace it with one you know works , but I would check for updated drivers then check the IRQ for conflicts first.
Good look,
Keith.
