Several weeks ago my computer crashed and would only boot into Safe Mode. I tried a number of things and ultimately got it back but I now have no mouse in Safe Mode. The mouse functions fine when I boot up normally. It is a MS PS-2 mouse. the same and only mouse that I have always used on this computer.
Any and all help would be much appreciated.

SAFE MODE loads no drivers, you need to use keyboard commands to navigate:
TAB
TAB and CAPS
ENTER
ALT + ?
etcetc

The mouse should work in safe mode too. The only reason I can think that it wouldn't is you installed 3rd party mouse drivers that aren't loading.

In normal mode you might check how the mouse is configured in device manager in system in control panel. If it's 3rd party software you may need to reinstall it. Otherwise you can try removing it in device manager and then rebooting to safe mode and see if the mouse is reinstalled.

After you remove the mouse in the Device Manager, windows will probably try to reload the 3rd party driver on a reboot. If you cancel that attempt, maybe it will default to the standard mouse driver.
