No Drive for USB CD/RW

I have a computer with WIN 98. I bought a new external USB CD-RW. The software seemed to install correctly. It will not specify a drive letter in my computer for it. Is this a BIos issue? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, LT

The assignment of drive letters is not a Windows function -- but USB is. You need to be sure that your USB is OK (look in Device Manager) and then be sure that the Drive software did, in fact, get installed correctly. (Uninstall and reinstall)

Try this, put your softwear CD in, and then go to control panel and then add new hardwear, if there is a yellow question mark and the name of your CD/RW read what it says an continue the process.

It might be worthwhile to check in the BIOS setup and see if the USB has been activated.
