I have zonealarm firewall and AVG antivirus. I have email and internet access but no connection when trying to download music files etc. I think the problem began when I changed from 7.0 to 7.5 AVG free antivirus - any help would be appreciated thanks.

What exactly happens when you try downloading?

You can get an internet connection it seems, so does the act of downloading cut you off or something?

Generalising, IE Repair is always worth a try when you get any problems with IE.

Yes, this is where I get a bit puzzled. Does your first line #2 mean that you can't get a connection of any sort to start with?

The reason I ask is that after you have got the above connection you would normally go to the website from which you want to download music, then click on the download button they give you on there. In some cases you right click the download and ask it to "save target as".

So I'm still a bit unsure whether this is a connect problem or a problem getting downloads.

Anyhow, IE Repair is harmless so it's worth a shot. You go to Control Panel/Add-Remove and double click the entry "Microsoft IE & Internet Tools". This should bring up the repair option.

Any problem with IE Repair then please shout back. There is usually a details button which gives a clue what the problem is about. If it finds something you often get an alarming message suggesting you reload Windows (rarely necessary).
