when booting up, with my usb 4 port hub connected, my puter sometimes fails to fire up at all. if i then take out the hub, the puter seems to fire up without problem, and i can then just plug the hub back in, with no problems. are there any drivers i need for the hub specifically. i'm using the standard usb ones off the win98 disc. please help out if poss, as this is getting right up my goat !!

You might try updating Windows USB compatibilty. If you are running W98 First Edition, install Service Pack 1, which included USB updates. If running W98se, there are two USB updates available for download from Microsoft, 240075up.exe and 241134up.exe. Install both patches.
