newly built PC: no power

YOU built it!
Try making sure the switch on the power supply is set for the correct voltage. Other than that, don't know.

Disconnect everything except the motherboard and try again. One of the devices might have a short.

Make sure that you have the ps switch plugged into the correct pins on the motherboard. Everything should be labeled. If not look at the mb manual.

Be lazy like me, and look for the easiest solution... so FIRST check whether your Power Supply has it's own on/off rocker switch! Some do! It's in plain sight in the back.

After checking as suggested by response 3& 4 (I know sometimes we tend to mix up power led and power sw(itch) connections).You are looking at several possible culprits: 1.Bad power supply, 2.Bad Power switch on case,or 3.Bad motherboard. Unfortunately,the only way to isolate the problem is to substitute each component with another, one at a time, (other than using a voltmeter(I strongly recommend that only an experienced tech. do this!)
