My old 360xx series didn't have an onboard cdrom, so I'm not familiar with yours.

Have you been to IBM support, and downloaded "the manuals?"

Is it possible the hard drive failed?

Do you have a floppy, and can you boot from that?

I don't know offhand if this model will boot from a cdrom--one way to find out might be to get into bios/setup and check for "boot order", do you know how to do that?

Start with the machine OFF, press AND HOLD the "F1" key, and CONTINUE to hold while turning it ON. CONTINUE to hold "F1" and it should go into "setup" (bios)

Some of the pages concerning your model may have been removed or well hidden by IBM, but there is still info coverning other models that applies.

Here's a rehash of another post:

Look around this page:

A little about hardware manuals:

and the IBM page of the manuals:

Ok, you need to go to IBM and do some digging. Check some of the other older models, like the 750-755, 36xx, and so on to see if some of the files "fit."

This thing may have not been designed to boot of cdrom, and if you have to floppy, the only other alternative --and not a bad one--is to get a hard drive cable adaptor that will allow you to hook the laptop hard drive up to your desktop, and partition, format, and make it bootable from there. You should be able to install a cdrom driver, and or copy the install files to the hard drive.

Martin,

It might have been worthwhile mentioning that you had looked up the meaning of the error code and found it to mean; keyboard error - stuck key.

Try pressing every key until you find the one that doesn't feel right. Gently prise of the keycap and clean underneath it.

If this does not work, you'll have to replace the keyboard.
