Hey, gang.
Check message #38854 to see my original prob.
Here's the latest: I bought a new slot 7 motherboard & hooked it up. Got the same problem: Can access BIOS & CMOS, but it won't boot. I know it's not the HDD, because I slaved it to the system I'm on now and it worked fine. I even Put it as Primary on mine & it booted up like a champ. I'm really frustrated now. What's left? the CPU?
to recap: P1 (p54c) @ 133mhz with 32 mb RAM, Commate s7ax motherboard (new) with ALi Aladdin V m1542 & m1543 chipset
No boot up. It sees the "A" drive, the CD-ROM, etc, but even with the new board, I can't get it to boot even with boot sequence set to a,c, cd-rom with the 98 boot disc or the bootable system disc in it.
HELP!!!!

Uh, did you Auto-detect the drive in CMOS? It has to be I.D.ed before it will work.

While scratching my head and agreeing with The Doofus, here's another possibility...

Try another ribbon cable. I know it's a stretch, but hey... anything's possible.

Best of luck...

Yup, I auto detected & put in "user" settings. Tried it both ways. I'll try a new ribbon cable...

Thanks
