new 20 gig hd only has 7.85 gig

just added a 20 gig hard drive. fdisked and put in partitions then formatted all partitions, reloaded everything from recovery disk. Now the hard drive only has 7.85 gig total Please help! Thanks

reposting I have a 266m hz IBM aptiva L61 recovered to win 95 but have not loaded the win 98 upgrade yet (in case I have to start over)

your bios may not able to handle more than 8 gig.

The Aptiva BIOS can only go to 8 Gig.

A BIOS Extender Card could Extend that to
32 Gig.

Fdisk/status
and then see what has eaten ur space
