Comment:

Does anyone have any ideas on how to re-configure netzero so that their advertisements don't come up? I normally wouldn't mind them, but they hog so much memory, it totally ruins the "surfin" experience. Thanks

What did you expect for FREE? Someone has to pay for the service, in this case it's the advertisers.

Try using top rated AnalogX's MaxMemory available "free" from http://www.webattack.com
It is listed under freeware-systems accelerators. This will fee up your memory problem while surfing with banner ads running.

I don't mind the memory-hogging banners, but how do you get their SMTP server to stop adding that crap to the end of my messages?

Here is what I did ...
Open a dos prompt and go to the netzero directory.
look for a file called hook.dll
when you find it ...type (edit hook.dll)
you should see a shell with a lot of characters that you may not understand.

highlight all the carachters and delete them ... you should back up the file before you do this (just in case)

close the editor

check the size of the file ,it should be 0 kb

next time you use netzero ,you should see the TV during the dialup and after it does the update and goes to 100% it should disappear.

this worked for me but now they changed the system for only 40 free hours every month after that you have to pay ,at least in my area

GOOD LUCK
