Try Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) in Windows. It works.

Get a hub... 100Mbs would be best, but if you're not sure shell out the extra buck for 10/100Mbs hub.

Easy. Just get a hub and connect each computer's network interface card (NIC) and the DSL router to the hub using straight-thru (vs. cross-over) CAT5 cable. Make sure you have the TCP/IP protocol installed in network neighborhood. Then tell your browser that you're connecting through the LAN. You're on...

If you want the computers to see each other, install the Client for Microsoft Networks and NetBEUI protocol in Network Neighborhood. If you install the Printer and File Sharing service, you'll be able to transfer files back and forth (share the drives that you want each other to have access to). However, be sure you unbind TCP/IP from NetBEUI or you'll be letting hackers gain very easy access to your systems.

Now that you're all cozy and hooked to the Internet, I have three recommendations to keep the "Black Death" (a.k.a. Hackers) from invading your system:

1. Get a good firewall (ZoneAlarm is good...and free)

2. Get a good anti-virus program and keep it up-to-date (I use NAV)

3. Get a good firewall (listen to your mother!)

Good luck...

is probably worth your time a visiting... especially the 'networking' section; covers just about all aspects of DSL and 'sharing it...' (the D-link access-router is well regarded in many areas - including the MAC world...)

and
