running 2 computer network- linksys 10/100 lan- this network formerly worked fine- now computer #1 cannot access files/printer of #2- #2 can access files/priter of #1 fine.

ping and net diag test show computers are communicating. #2 computer sees #1 properly and \\1 shows in window when clicking #1 in network neighborhood. however, when i click #2 from #1 in ntwk n/hood, i see a computer icon with a 2 after it (rather than the usual "\\2". clicking this icon show files and printer of #1 computer only, ie., ths same computer. i've been through everything i can think of. file and printer sharing is enabled on both computer of course. i can't find anyone who has encountered the "different" address, that is the computer icon and the 2 after it. the computers are identified as simply #1 & #2 and are in the same workgroup. Help!!!

I had the exact same problem at home once. Both pc's were Win98SE, but one was set to user-level access while the other was set to share-level access. Could see 1 from 2, but not 2 from 1. Can't remember how to get to the share/user level access to change it, because I'm on a 2K pc at work now, but maybe someone else knows...
