Networking between Windows 98 and MSDOS

I'm looking to establish a network connection between a computer with Windows 98 (A) and a computer with Windows 98 OS set to boot to MSDOS (BootGUI=0) (B). I want to be able to download data from computer B to computer A and then upload data from computer A back to computer B, although I'll take one or the other. I'm only dealing with KB of data here. The key things are that 1) I don't want computer B booting to or running Windows, so common networking setups don't work (I believe) and 2) both computers have to be able to operate normally. I've looked into the Intersvr.exe and Interlnk.exe commands available on DOS, but it seems to me that a PC running Intersvr can't be used for other operations. Any suggestions? Many thanks ahead of time to anyone who can respond.

If all you want to do in transfer data, I STILL think the easiest thing to use is the old, reliable, "laplink3" (ll3.exe) Is the "server" going to need to be unattended? You could write an autoexec.bat that would boot the thing right into laplink. Also, the old xtree gold "xtlink" could be used.
I dont like interlink. It sucks. It's a Microshaft product
