I recently had my computer worked on and completely re-formatted. When I start up the computer, a window pops up asking for a network password. There is a choice of OK or cancel. When I click either one, it goes on to Windows. How do I get rid of this pop-up? There is an icon on the desktop for Network Neighborhood. I never use the computer for any networking.
1st - RESTART TO DOS PROMPT under SHUTDOWN options. Then go to WINDOWS directory. Once you are in WINDOWS directory (usually C:\WINDOWS), del all files with the PWL extension. Once you have done this, reboot your PC. [PWL files are files for storing users' passwords]
2nd - Once Windows boots up, it will ask you the password. Make sure both fields are BLANK. Then press the ENTER key. Windows won't be bothering you with password prompting anymore thereafter.
