Can someone help me please?
On my Win98SE desktop PC, everytime I double click on the Network Neighborhood icon, details are not displayed. Instead it goes on a continoue search(with the flash light) for more than 10 minutes and finally crashing the PC. How can I rectify this problem or is there a way to delete and re-install the Network Neighborhood icon?
Please advise..Thanks. Benny

Hi Benny

Do you need the Network Neighbourhood icon to be on your desktop ?
If you are just on dial-up and don't have a network or any sharing features enabled, you could do away with the icon altogether.

Two ways to do it...
1. Get TweakUI and go to Desktop tab and untick the box for Network neighbourhood

2. Edit the registry manually

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
Explorer]

Value Name: NoNetHood
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (0 = disabled, 1 = enabled)

Or, to try and repair the icon, go to Control Panel / Network
and delete Client for Microsoft Networks

Reboot, and then add the Client back in.

Good luck
