I have a couple of PCs linked together at home, one acting as a gateway. A friend has moved in, so I would like to continue sharing all the files I have on the central machine, but adjust the permissions so that only I can access the private files. I.E. set-up machine A so that I can access everything from machine B, but my freind can only access some of the files from machine C.
XP file sharing has a 'Location' button when setting permissions, that would seem to be there to allow you to give access to users of other machines, but for some frustrating reason it only shows the local machine. i.e. I can only setup the permissions of the users on Machine A. What I want to do is set up the permissions of users on Machine B, but it soed not give me that option.... Any ideas?
Ooopsy, I think your mouse slipped - this is W95/98 forum.
Webmaster frowns on dual posting so it could be tricky to get round this. Perhaps a "could you look at this" link to this post from either WinXP or Networking forum would do the trick.
Maybe someone can help on here but the other choices seem better.

Don't you need to give the users of the other machines a local logon in order to enable ICS?
If you set up their permissions on your machine, this would also affect what they can access via their own machines.
Sorry, can't give you any more, I'm not an XP or ICS user.
