I've recently decided to switch from Windows 2000 back to Windows 98 SE, because I think this OS would be more appropriate for my needs (or to put it simply: more games work here ;) ). I've only had it installed for an hour and I already have two problems. Here they are, ladies and gentlemen:
Problem 1: Why doesn't mapping network drives work? In Win2k I just typed something like \\Machine1\C and it would connect to that drive. Could the problem be that the machine I'm trying to connect to is using Windows XP and I'm running Win98SE? Help is needed and appreciated.
Problem 2: DirectX, or to be a little more precise - Direct3D. DirectDraw tests perform fine, but when I do the Direct3D 7, 8 and 9 tests, I get this:
Direct3D 7 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x80004005 (Generic failure)
Direct3D 8 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x8876086c (error code)
Direct3D 9 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x8876086c (error code)
What the hell? Can anyone help? Please? I'd hate going back to Win2k or XP and I'm not even touching ME. I really am desperate.
Thanks in advance!

Ah, I'm such a doofus. My computer config is:
- AMD Duron 1200
- 256 MB RAM DDR
- Geforce 2 MX 400 64 MB
- Hercules Muse XL
An edit button would've been nice.
