Received a network error while establishing a network print queue from a particular workstation. When a adding a network printer, receive message "Cannot connect this network printer. Make sure your network is working properly and the network share yare are connected to exist". Well the above mention was checked out and verified. Can use other resources on the network like file printing, logical directory access,etc.. The other PCs in the department can print to the printer (HP LJ 4050TN). Checked NIC card, LPT port setting, physical network cabling, etc., all is well. Perplexed, need help?

I had a simular problem. I am running a peer to peer network of win 98. I has problems with one of my printers which was a hp720c.
I had to install the driver on all the computers first and then route the pc's to where the printer is at. You might also state what kind of network and operating system you are running to get better information from this forum.

...have an NT4 / Win95 (Client).
TCP/IP ; File & Printer Sharing.
Peer to Peer ; Win Proxy ;
...everything worked...but Win95 seemed to drop the install files...and the error message "cannot install etc...played and played with settings...Server can print...Client cannot.Check to make sure in Network Neighborhood - The O/S's must refer to the same "Printer Name"...case sensitive..
make sure of that!

Well I found a round about solution to my problem. Because I'm running a Novell 4.11 server with a capture statement included in the script (captures lpt1 to a network queue), I was able to add a local printer instead of a network printer to the printer folder. First I determined I could print from MSDOS prompt to the network printer. This assured me that network connectivity to the printer existed. Because lpt ports are DOS ports, capturing it to a network queue allows for printing to be routed from DOS rather then Windows. In essence I linked the local printer via lpt1 which was already connected on the DOS end to a network print queue.
