2) and i have an existing LAN with few pc with windows and cdrom.
Is there a method to create a bootdisk for the new pc to connect to the LAN.
so that i can install program from the other pc's cdrom in the LAN?
pls advice.

Ken,
What type of network are you running? Novell, NT, or Peer to Peer(normally used in home networks)?
Probably the easiest, but most time consuming, way to do this is via MS-DOS's Interlink and Intersvr program. However, you will need MS-DOS version 5 or 6 and a null modem serial or parallel cable. What you would do is copy the entire windows CD to the hard drive of your new pc and then install from there.
There are also other programs out there that should be able to help you as well, but you will still need the cables. Other than that, unless your on a Novell network, I haven't seen it done any other way.

Fox

What type of network. The company I used to work for I had the same type of situtation. We had a Novell 3.12 network and I did the exact same thing you are trying to do. However I do not think it can be done with Windows NT because there are no "DOS" absed drivers for Windows
Let us know

dear Norm Henri and fox
all the pc in the lan is only running under windows 95.
It should be tcp/ip rite?
the physical structure of the lan was connected with rj45 cable and 3com hubs.
each pc can see each other in the Network Neighborhood.and this new pc dun hv any os and dun hv cdrom yet.
my problems i there a method to create a ms-dos or windows bootdisk.
to boot this new pc and connect to the existing windows95 lan so that i can installed the windows95.
pls advice again

If you have internet access check out the Microsoft Knowledge base and search on the
"net use" command. I guess basically the way it works is it allows you to attach to a "shared" resource on the network. So assuming that the CD-ROM drive you are going to use is a shared resource (FILE AND PRINTER SHARING), in theory you should be able to attach to it. One thing you will need to do is set up the new PC by fdisk it and formatting it with the /s switch. Also you may need to make your boot disk (floppy) bootable and copy the net use.exe file to it.
You will also need to copy the approriate network drivers to you disk (THAT COULD BE A TRICK IN ITSELF)Let me know if it works

I have been trying to create a boot disk to access a WinNT server for 5 days now, and had no luck. I've tried the "Network Client Administrator" but the drivers for my card are not in there. I downloaded the DOS driver for my NIC card and implemented them to work, but still no luck. I tried to make a network boot disk via Ghost, but that didn't work either. If anyone has another way of creating a network boot disk PLEASE HELP ME!!! or if anyone already has a disk using the "Intel(R) PRO/100" NIC card please zip the files on the disk and e-mail them to me. Thank you!!!

running novell 5.1.1 server want to know how to create a boot disk to the network. If I have HD fail I want to boot with a disk into the network login screen
