I have a laptop with no CD-Rom. I heard that you can install Win 98 by linking my laptop to the network. My question is if someone knows how to make a network build setup disk so that I can connect to a network through DOS and install Win 98 on this laptop. Or is there another way. I have a network card, floppy drive and not operating sys on the laptop right now.

If you're using Novell Netware, you can load the MS-DOS Netware drivers from a bootable diskette (these usually came with Lan cards way back when). If you're trying to connect to a MS-Network network, I don't think that's do-able sice it relies on Windows to be running. There's an option to boot in Safe-Mode with Network support. From there you might be able to download the \Cab files from a workstation to a local disk, but I don't think that you can run an install that way.

Also you can undertake file transfer via LapLink and similar software using either a parallel lapLink or null modem serial cable, it will run off a boot flopyy with CD support on each PC.

use the search option at top of page to find links..............

is a keeper for my goodie bag. Thanks for the post. I've not tried the Laplink type connection from DOS (although it used to work fine with MS-DOS boot for 6.22. I used to carry DOS laplink disks & a cable in my bag a while back. I don't think I've tried it from DOS for years.
