Has anyone tried this tip?(AXEL216's) Creating a ram drive and using Netsonic pro setting the cache to the ram drive? And if so do you have to create 2 batch files to load/save the cache on startup/close?Or would Netlaunch or some other program work as well perform both funtions ect.. without eating resources?
Any comments appreciated!UPDATE: "There is a much better RAM Disk out there, called XMS/EMS RAMdisk (freeware), which doesn't shift drive letters.
I have 128 MB and I use a RAM disk of 46 MB, which can be extended to up to 2 GB, depending on the installed RAM.
This RAMdisk driver works with EMS and XMS. Place the following line in Autoexec.bat:
XMSDSK 46080 E: /C1 /T /Y
where:
46080 = RAM disk size in KB.
E: = desired drive letter.
/C1 = cluster size of 512 Bytes. /C2 = 1024, /C4 = 2048 (only doubling works, not 3 or 5).
/T = use RAM from top in 1 block (highly recommended for proper operation).
You can turn on or off your RAMdisk by simply adding REM in front of the Autoexec.bat line.
I load and save the cache files to disk using 2 BAT files.
This can also be automated by Netlaunch at the begining and at the end of a dial session.
Also, use Netsonic Pro and put the Netsonic cache in RAM to get a browsing speed you never thought of, it's like having a T1."

OK so Netsonic was a wash the version I used wouldn't "cache anything" for me.I see they have an updated version but they can keep it if it means paying more $$ to them.
Set up IE 6 cache to ram disc and manually copy paste ie5 when start/end online sessions.Need to set up something better but the performance seems to make it worth the effort!!
Any bat tips for sending and recieving content ie5 in/out of the ram drive??
