I'm trying to get a user to map a drive using Windows 98 2nd edition, but he says there's no "user login" switch. He's trying to log into our NT domain, and can do it from an NT box, but not a 98 2nd Ed. box. Has anyone done this from a Win98 machine and had it work? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

B.

There is a user login switch, it's net logon but you don't even need to do that. As long as you have the proper boot disks, as soon as you do a net use you will be prompted to start the workstation service and then you will be prompted to login. Once this is done, the drive will be mapped. I am assuming, of course, that you are trying to do this from a boot disk.

Windows 98 does not have a user switch when using net use. The only way to connect to an NT server is for the person to log into Win98 with the username that has access to the NT server. It doesn't matter what the password is when logging on to Win98- as long as they don't hit ESC.

From there, they would probably be prompted for a password, and then they should be all set.
