I purchased a retail copy of Nero 5.543 to run on my system (AMD Duron 700/256Mb/6.4Gb/Win98se). When I install it, everything looks okay. But when I try to burn something, it doesn't recognize my Acer cd-rw. I downloaded a crack and tried it a few months ago and it wouldn't load/install because of my cd-rw incompatibility. But I bought it this time. I figured the RETAIL version would be less specific about drives it can use. Any helpful commentary before I return the software would be greatly appreciated. Thank You !!!

Try uninstalling evrything realted to NERO. It sounds like the cracked version is bleeding through into the purchased version. I have nero and it works fine, but have had a similar problem in the past. Clean out everything including the registry keys and do a fresh install.
I installed this on a new hard drive. It has minimal programs installed. It doesn't even have office installed. Any other ideas ??? Thanx for the quick response !!!

Download the latest version from their website. When it installs if you already have a legal copy installed it will upgrade it. 5582 may be the current version. If you install the downloaded version without a legal version installed it becomes a trial version. Or you can start the trial version and put in your key and it becomes whatever version your code qualifies it for. CC Ryder
