still need ideas about my Gateway laptop, "model p3c". unsure about proper voltage, but adapter has a proprietary end on the cord which attaches to a four-pronged male connection in laptop. Suggested, so far? E-bay. been there searched that. interesting site, but none available of that type. Also, attempt to rig a standard adapter fitting into laptop. well, seems a bit risky at best. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I know you said this is a Gateway, but I have seen the adapters you stated made for Compaqs and Dells. The ones with the 4plug connector instead of just one. Try taking your lap to a show or fair and matching them up maybe. That is what I did with mine and that is how I know I saw them. Looked high and low for months. Finally ordered one from manufacturer.

you might also try Radio Shack for the heck of it.

Bill just remember what ever you do to obtain an adapter for your laptop, take the laptop with you so you can get the right voltage and polarity. If these are wrong you will fry your laptop quick. Good luck.
