still need ideas about my Gateway laptop, "model p3c". unsure about proper voltage, but adapter has a proprietary end on the cord which attaches to a four-pronged male connection in laptop.
Suggested, so far? E-bay. been there searched that. interesting site, but none available of that type.
Also, attempt to rig a standard adapter fitting into laptop. well, seems a bit risky at best.
any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Bill just remember what ever you do to obtain an adapter for your laptop, take the laptop with you so you can get the right voltage and polarity. If these are wrong you will fry your laptop quick.
Good luck.

thanks bill. it's nice to see somebody appriciates the help even if it doesn't always solve your problems.

F-Y-I...F-Y-I!
the good & bad of my search for a power adapter so far...
???? you put me in the right direction. I had gone to Radio Shack before...and was told they didn't have what I needed. Lesson? cross-examine the clerks if necessary, sometimes they are a little green w/ experience...
anyhow...for anyone needing a laptop adapter, Radio Shack may well be yourt best bet.
They had a universal type...BUT...it included looking tip I needed! what's more...their adapter has an adjustable feature for the amount of power needed!!!
So you might find it's what you need! Plus,
while the cost was about $80 bucks, that's is better than the Best Buy stores...which had carried some with less features for about $120.Still, a problem for me though...
when we tried one...my laptop's "on" light only blinked on, then back off, and did so several times as we plugged/unplugged unit.
The laptop, model 3pc, has been sitting uncharged for a very long time. So i couldn't be sure whether its the laptop, or battery, or what.Don't want to invest on a lark, so any clues about this would be greatly appreciated. thanks. Bill
