Need text program that saves file to JPEG

I want to make an advertisement with text only and want it saved as a JPEG or so, so that my slide program will be able to load it. Presently I have been makeing it in Paint, saving it as an bitmap and opening it in photo editor then saving it as a JPEG. This is too time consuming and complicated.
You should be able to type text in photo editor. Al

May not be true in earlier versions but my Paint will save in .jpg (Save as type).

I tried this in paint shop pro, it worked fine. Added text, copied the selected text (already selected), edit, paste as new image, and then save as jpeg.
