Need the file OSD.exe for windows98SE, for a Compaq Presario 5100C. I lost the file that allowed me to access the on-screen-display icon that used to reside in the "control panel". This driver file allowed me to "enable" the on-screen-display to allow me to see the "green indicator bars" on my monitor whenever i adjusted the volume levels, similar to the on-screen bars that you see when adjusting a tv volume. I have a Compaq keyboard SK2700 and Compaq monitor MV700. I need to download this OSD.exe file if anyone has it or knows of a site that it can be downloaded from.

JPW: I have tried to find this specific driver that you suggested , but to no avail. I have looked on all web sites and my specific computer configuration does not seem to match up. Could you suggest a site for this download.

Sites like HPs are massive and sometimes things are hard to find but they would be the best resource. Post your exact model and serial# and maybe we can have more luck. I notice you say Compaq presario 5100. I think there is more to the model # than that though.

OtheHill: The exact model is Compaq Presario 5100C Desktop computer. I have checked the HP website and I downloaded the keyboard drivers they listed but not one of them allowed this OSD.exe program to appear. It seems that this is the key, to find someone with this OSD.exe file for me to download and load onto the pc will allow me to see the "green bars" on screen when adjusting the volume level. If you can locate this OSD.exe file as a stand alone download, that would probably solve my issue. Thanks.

OtheHill;
I don't know, but i would have assumed that someone with windows 98 has this file residing in their directory, and if they could download it as a file for me, that would really help. There must be some geek out there who has it, i was hoping someone on this board might. Thank you for helping.

I just now scanned my dual boot Win98se/Win2000 system and came up dry. I would think this is either a Compaq file or something from a keyboard software package.

Yes, it is a Compaq PC and Keyboard, but the Compaq website downloadable software for my keyboard model that I identified above does not show up, nor does any of the software from their site for MS98SE solve this issue for me. So, you may be right, I would need a member that has my hardware config software to see if that file exists on their pc. Do you know any posters that might check their pc's to see if they have this file I need?? I would be very appreciative if you did know of some, but in any event you seem to be the only poster trying to help me now. Thank you.

If you have the compaq restore disks you can find the osd drivers in the first disk in cpqdrv folder number 324999. in the folder you will find a series of folders that you will have to open, it will then bring you to a zip file.. after you open it you will get two folders , one says appl and the other cpqdrv.. open the cpqdrv folder and you will see two folders disk 1 and disk 2. click the disk 1 folder then click set up.. it will reinstall your osd program.. hope this will help you.. yours Bruce a compaq techie
If you need the file you can email me and i will be more than happy to send it to you via yahoo.. ok? my screen name on yahoo is suuvok

Dash142: I sent you a Yahoo response yesterday. I did not get any response from you yet so I wanted to be sure you got it.

Andrew, that driver is not one specific to my keyboard. I have a Compaq SK2700. Do you have a link for that one? If you read some of the comments from that website, one of them cautioned about downloadingthis driver for anything but that one. Anyway, I hope you could redirect me to the specific one i need, thank you.

Dash142, I have not heard back from you or gotten any email reply from your Yahoo logon name. Could you let me know if you can still assist me? Thank you.

Well I guess that Dash142 was a fluke, that person never bothered to help after all, even though I took the time to send a Yahoo email as requested. And Andrew , where are you? I answered your post.
So, the bottom line is that nobody can help me.

Mel I did get your email.. sorry I did not get back to you as my systems hard drive crashed and I just got it reloaded and up and running after installing a new one.. I added you to me yahoo messenger and am waiting for you to respond so I can send you the file you need.. ok? also do you need the easy access keyboard drivers to your keybaord as well as the osd.exe file ? let me know.. Oh and by the way I am not a fluke.. hehehe A fluke is a fish.. just a little humor bud.. I hope to hear from you.. Your friend Bruce

Mel. I sent you the files you requested via yahoo.. the osd.exe file in zip format and the eab(easy access keyboard) drivers for the SK-2700 Compaq internet ready keyboard,,Let me know if that helps you out.. Your Freindly Compaq techie, Bruce

Bruce:
Ok, I am the fish now, my appologies for thinking that. You are the only one who was able to solve my problem and I thank you for that. I sent you an im via yahoo. I will add you as a "friend". If you were from Florida, since I am from Massachusetts, we used to have an expression when the New England Patriots played the Miami Dolphins, it was " squish the fish", lol, just a little bad fluke humor. Talk to you soon, and again , thank you.
