I'm running Windows98 and have an MDP7800-U modem which I believe is put out by Lucent. I've been searching all over the net and can't find an init string for this puppy. Until I network with my other PC and its cable modem, I'd really like to speed up this connection. Can anyone out there help?

with my MDP7800-U Modem I use s38=10-v90=20
That will force it to try to connect about the max. you can change the v90= to a lower number if you can't connect at Connection established at 52000bps
I believe using AT&F will make it so all settings made in windows will not be used so I would stay away from AT&F unless you want to do everything by an AT Command.
check your modem log
you might look for this file C:\WINDOWS\ATCOMSET.DOC or a shortcut in the program folder - MDP7800-U folder. for AT commands
