Need help with sndvol32.exe (Vol. Control)

I upgraded from Win95 to Win98 and my volume control does not work now. I made sure that it was added during install and even checked it using add/remove to make sure it was there. I went to c:\windows\sndvol.exe and manually tried to run it and it does nothing. I went to multimedia under the audio tab and Playback and Recording are grayed out. Do I need a new mixer or ,,,,well I don't know, help.

Your drivers aren't installed. Go to the start button/ help menu & type: sound,highlight troubleshooting and click. Then follow the troubleshooting wizard.

I an having the same problem as the original message noted by Mike. My sound system appears OK except that I cannot play midi sounds. Tried the trouble shooting in Help and all of Microsoft troubleshooting ideas on the internet. I have a new sndvol32.exe which it too does nothing to help. Any new ideas on this matter?

I had sound and volume control and know I don,t have there. when I click on the vol control it has this meages, Like this "You may install or activate devices from the contorl panel." I have tryed everything and nothing works. Plus I don't get anything while I and on line. This is the second time this has happen and i can't afford haveing oneone look at it again.
