need help changing color and pixels

i need help on changing my color and pixels it wont let me change it to 256 and800by600 pixels it will only let me have 16 color and 640by480pixels and they suck.so i went and got a different driver super vga so know i have super vga driver and it lets me change it to 256 color and 800by600pixels and then it asked to restart to make the changes so i say yes it restarts but then before it loads the icons and the screen an error pops up and says display stteings wrongand somthing like dirver needs to be change of somthing stupid and then it goes back to s---y 16 color and 640by480pixels. if anyone know please trell me i have been trying to figure this one out for 3 weeks know and i think i might just have to take it and get it profesionaly done and just have to spend the money so if anyone has even any ideas please please tell me thanks aaron

You will need to get the right driver for your video card. Can you get to the inside of the computer to look and find out the name brand and maker of the card, then post back?

If the video card is built into the motherboard like you say, then find out exactly the model of the motherboard, go on their website and download the vga drivers that the board comes with. Or go to www.driverguide.com and find it there (username drivers, password all) Good luck, SN

If you use Windows 2000 Pro I can almost guarentee you it will work, letting you have 256 colors 800x600 and MORE! Hope this helps!
