I recently formatted the c drive on my computer and reinstalled win98 SE. Prior to doing so my speakers (Altec Lansing AVS200) worked fine. Now they don't. I've been searching all over the web for the AVS200 driver but have had no luck. I don't have any disks or documentation that may have come with the speakers. What to do?

I could be way off base hear but I think your sound card driver is what you need. Look at your soundcard and try to Identify The manufactuer. Then look in www.windriver.com This page is exsreamly helpful in identifiing and directing you to where the drivers may be. Also check in MY COMPUTER, propertys, DEVICE MANAGER and see if you sound card has been installed. The trouble shooter in the HELP menu sometimes is usful in diagnosing Input/output and DMA problems. sometimes, Uninstalling all sound drivers and removing the sound card then reboot your Sys. Make sure all sound drivers are gone. Then shut down Comp. Replace sound card in a differnt slot. Reboot Comp. then use the add/remove hardware utility in controle pannel and see if it will auto detect the card You have. I hope I did not waste your time here. RSB
