Goofed on first post with name/subject. Let me try again.
I just my bought my father a new compaq desktop with xp on it and he's a novice user so he doesn't know how to get around and needs a lot of help. Problem is I'm 1500 miles away, so I'm wondering if there's a way for me to remotely connect my pc to his pc so I can work on his desktop when he needs help. He'd be using XP and I'd be using straight Windows 98. He uses a dialup connection with AOL while I use a cable connection with Cox. Would Norton PC Anywhere work? I've no experience with this aspect of computers and would appreciate any recommendations/ advice.

Try VNC by AT&T...
"VNC stands for Virtual Network Computing. It is, in essence, a remote display system which allows you to view a computing 'desktop' environment not only on the machine where it is running, but from anywhere on the Internet and from a wide variety of machine architectures."
here's the link, and btw its free!!! don't know if it works cuz i haven't the opportunity to try it... :(

Good luck

I have used PC Anywhere and I'm sure it would work. However, it will be unbearably slow over a dialup connection. For a while I was running it on a 10mb LAN connection and it was kinda slow on it. At 100mb it works pretty well.

there is also a program called DAMEWARE that is excellent. Only seen it used by the IT guys at work but it seems easy to use
