i really need someones help, i installed win2k pro and dual booting win98 and 2k pro went fine for about the first 2 weeks, then one day when loading up before i got to the dos boot screen i got a dos message saying invalid boot.ini file
booting from C:windowsNT
or something very close to that. I really don't want to have to reinstall win98 (i would have to do it in dos, 2k not let you downgrade) but i really want to boot into 98, please, could some one email me the boot.ini file? would that even work? can someone out there help me?

Didn't know that W9x uses a boot.ini file.
Or am I in the wrong forum?

I believe boot.ini is part of windows 2000. Maybe post your question in that forum.

Andy...

Remember is a W2K/NT item; it contains a list of the various OS's installed and allows choice of OS to boot. 'Normally' you cannot import someone else's boot.ini...

If you download a '98 boot-disk from one of the sources already posted by Scarletrose above (interesting 'tag' - Gone with Wind???), it should allow you to access '98.

When you boot to W2K, is the '98 Folder still there (in the C: system - active primary - partition?

To 're-install' '98 is possible; probably you would end up doing an overwrite. But you would need to make the ERD for W2K first, as you will need it to restore the W2K boot-loader - if '98 does decide to overwrite it...

But to fix the problem properly need to see the current . Can you post a copy of yours and perhaps a solution can be found.
