You don't give much info but this probably applies:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=...

It says there that no update is available but that's a lie. The update file name is 312108USA8.exe and was previously available on their site. But if you google that file name you should find a download site.

Hi DAVEINCAPS,

Thanks for your input, the full scenario is as follows:
A laptop running Win7 OS with a 2.4Ghz processor. Then installed Virtual PC to allow older programmes to work through a Win95 OS profile. So when starting this profile from within Virtual PC we keep getting the NDIS Error.

Yes, I will google for the file and hopefully it will then correct the issue

You're welcome. If you can't find a download site I can email it to you. I think it's the same file whether you're using 95 or 98 first edition.

There is NO 95 fix for that problem, only 98 Gold or First Edition. 98se didn't need it as it was fixed before release.

I haven't heard a peep out of anybody substituting ndis.vxd files though, I wonder if it's possible? I don't have a processor faster than that to test it or I'd volunteer a spare drive to the project and see if that approach works for 95 or not.

The only place I could find that still had it was http://driverguide.com. Then do a search for 312108, the three hits all have the same file even it's named differently. They also all have a version check built in so it won't run in 95 or 98se, despite reviews or advice to the contrary, ResourceHacker says so. It only runs with 98 Gold.

Yeah, the MS page says the problem occurs with 95 and 98 standard (first) edition. So I assumed the fix there was for both, but maybe not.

Edit I found this link:

http://www.foonews.info/es-comp-har...

which looks to have the original text on that MS page and it does say there is a fix for 98 but not 95.

I found this:

http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/834...

where a possible alternate solution is discussed.
