When I start up the computer I get a message
in a gray box that says NAVW32.exe has been altered. please restart your computer from
rescue boot disk and scan for viruses.if no virus is found try reinstalling nav from original disks. What soes this mean

It means that something has altered your Antivirus program. Either a file has become corrupted or you are now infected with a virus. Did you keep it updated?

I Would update it every week. I was gone
on Vacation for two weeks and then this happened

Wanda, Did you ever create a Rescue Disk Set for your Antivirus Program? If you didn't you should have.

You could first go to the link below and run the Free on-line "Panda ActiveScan" which does an excellent job.

http://www.pandasoftware.com/

Doing the on-line scan should show you if you have a virus and which virus your computer is infected with. Post back on how you make out.
