Hi,
I have a drive D, which is my CD burner, and a drive E, which is my CDrom. Is there any way of naming them differently in windows explorer?

Hi shakushinnen, hi everyone

If you mean with renaming them differently in the way of assigning a different drive letter to them, thus E becomes Z and D becomes Y, yes that is possible and real easy.

If you mean with renaming them differently in the way of naming them from D to "CD-Burner" and from E to "CD-ROM", no that is not possible at least not that I am aware of.

To change the assigned drive letters, right click on the My Computer icon, select Properties and click on the Device Manager tab, expand CD-Rom and select one drive and click on the Properties button.
Click on the Settings tab, near the end of the window and select the drive letter you want to use for the particular drive.
You have to assign the same drive letter for both the first drive letter and the last drive letter. Click OK.
Repeat these steps for the other drive.

Click OK to close the Device Manager window, a reboot may be required to have the changes take effect.

Hope this helps.

To re-NAME, use F2 in explorer.

To assign different letters, use MSCDEX in autoexec.
