My sound card thinks its 2 sound cards so if I want to play a wav file i have to select the first or if i want to play Midi i have to select the second. If i adjust the main volume nothing happens. Its gone insane please help it

Just in case you don't know what the "device manager" is, I'll give a step-by-step breakdown of how to remove the extra entry:
[1] Right-click on the "My Computer" on your desktop
[2] Select "Properties" from the pull-down menu
[3] In the window the comes up, select the "Device Manager" tab at the top
[4] Double-click on the "Multimedia" entry
[5] Click on one of the sound card entries (there should be two identical ones--select one of the two)
[6] Click the 'Remove' button. You may have to reboot.
Hope that helps!
Jon
