Specs: Windows 98

After going online to find a person's phone number, now my keyboard is adding extra letters, and deleting entire lines of text when I hit return.

I wonder if you turned on StickeyKeys by accident?

Did this just start happening? Assuming it's not a hardware issue then you might try restoring a previous registry. Boot to command prompt by choosing 'safe mode command prompt only' from the F8 boot menu or choose ' restart in msdos mode' from the 98 shutdown screen.

At the dos prompt type SCANREG/RESTORE and enter. Choose a registry to restore with a date that precedes the problem. Typically only the last 5 registries are saved so if you're going to do it, do it right away.

Any software you installed after the date of the restored registry may need to be reinstalled since there won't be any reference to it in the registry.

Thank you so much everyone. Your replies have been very helpful. My keyboard is working properly now. I took your advice, and googled some other options. What I did was...I reinstalled a virus program and scanned for viruses. Then, I reninstalled my OS. When I rebooted, everything was back to normal, thank God. May I add that the "Click N Type" Software by Lakefolks really saved my behind oncemore, by allowing me to keep on emailing and researching while my regular keyboard was on the blink. The "Click N Type" is free (I've donated, it's well worth it, and it gives one a virtual keyboard that you can use touch, or mouse) And helloh, "Dave", I think you are the same "Dave" we talked before...remember, we talked about "2001 A Space Odyssey" and I confused Hal The Computer with "Dave", lol. It's been a while. Hope you are having a great summer! Regards, "moon"

Yeah, I remember that. That was a year or so ago. I'm glad you got it working again.
