The ddraw.dll file error shows up every time wondows loads. It won't start. I can't play my divx palyer without it. IS there any way i can get this .dll file to work? PLEase put it in simple terms. Im very new to computers. Thank You
That file is part of DirectX. Reinstalling or updating DirectX should correct the error. I don't play games so I still have version 6.1, but the most current is 9.0. I read about DirectX problems here quite frequently so perhaps someone else could suggest the version of DirectX to install. Type dxdiag in the run line to determine the version you currently have.

Hi Carol, dave, hi everyone,
I would like so much to help you... I'm not familiar with DirectX but I can say all of my ddraw*.dll are in double, both in C:\Windows\System and C:\Windows\SysBckup... maybe the same on your disk so that you could copy the file from SysBackup!

I have the same situation as Gérard. They are both the same version and size so it's safe to copy across from c:\windows\sysbckup to c:\windows\system
If this doesn't work type dxdiag in the Run box. When it has finished loading you can carry out some checks which may help indicate what is wrong. If you need to come back let us know the "DirectX Version" in the System tab (such as 6.1, 8.1 or 9).
